NHS Poll results – what should we do next?

Over the past few weeks, tens of thousands of us have been helping decide what we should do next with the NHS campaign by taking part in a survey on the 38 Degrees website.
Thanks to the huge outcry against their original plans, the government was forced to make some changes. They’ve changed parts of the wording and made a few real improvements – but some of the most dangerous problems remain.
We’ve not won yet – but we definitely have made progress. According to Andrew Lansley’s original timetable, the NHS changes would be law by now. Together, we’ve helped stop that happen.
Volunteers in the 38 Degrees office have spent the last few days analysing every single response to the survey to help decide what we do next. Another 38 Degrees volunteer, James, helped to compile the results into some handy graphs:

38 Degrees brings people together to take action on the issues that matter. How much do you think we should focus on the campaign to protect the NHS?
The results show overwhelmingly that we want to keep the pressure up and keep on campaigning to protect the NHS. Lots of us are worried about the role of private companies if the Bill is passed as it stands. Many 38 Degrees members are also concerned that competition should not undermine quality of care.
Here’s a small sample of comments made by 38 Degrees members about the NHS reforms:
“I want my GP to be a Dr. not an NHS manager.”
“All changes should be trialled for a significant period.”
“We need LOCAL, professional, monitoring of local health services. We need co-operation, not competition.”
“So often things happen before the public are aware. Monitoring the changes and receiving genuine information is crucial.”
“Keeping competition out of the NHS – it really must be about collaboration.”
What next?
