Site downtime – due to Stand Up To Murdoch petition

Yesterday, as tens of thousands of 38 Degrees members all over the UK were trying to sign the “Stand up to Murdoch” petition the website struggled to cope and eventually went offline.

It looks like this was just a matter of the website been overwhelmed as so many people tried to sign the petition in a short space of time.

Sorry this happened. We work hard to make sure the 38 Degrees website is as reliable as possible and are doing all we can to make sure this doesn’t happen again. We’ll update this blog with more details once we have them.

Update: as part of our work yesterday to get the website back online as soon as possible we had to disable all petition counters. This means that across the website petition counters are showing incorrect numbers. This should be fixed within the next few hours.
