Badgers update: Sad News
By becky
Yesterday MPs voted to continue the cull of badgers which started on Saturday. Mary Creagh MP’s motion to immediately end the killing was defeated by 49 votes. This is sad news for our badgers, especially when we know that the science behind it is shaky.
Despite all the pressure we put on them to keep badgers part of our countryside, in the end the vote came down to politics. The government put pressure on MPs to vote with them – they didn’t want to be as embarrassed as they were last time.
Many MPs are saying that they had to vote against their conscience because of the party line.
