Gagging law: Come to a meeting with Paul Burstow

By Megan Bentall

Want to help stop the gagging law? There’s a public meeting happening in Sutton and Cheam on 25th October. Your MP, Paul Burstow, says he’s free, but he wants to know that it will be a big meeting before he confirms that he’ll attend.  Can you come?

Here are the details:
Friday 25th October
Cheam High School, Chatsworth Road, Cheam, SM3 8PW
7:30pm – 9:30pm

Your MP, Paul Burstow, is one of the MPs that we need to vote against the gagging law, if we’re going to stop it. 38 Degrees members voted to focus on public meetings as a way of persuading MPs to make a stand against the gagging law. We know it’s a very effective tactic. But we need to make sure the meeting is packed full to the rafters. Paul Burstow has already confirmed that he’s free on that date. But we need to pack the meeting with lots of his constituents.

MPs will vote on the gagging law again on October 8th. Let’s make sure that for Paul Burstow MP, the thought of justifying the way he voted face-to-face with hundreds of constituents will be front of mind when he casts his votes. If we can get lots of people to turn out, it’s bound to impact on what your MP does as the law continues its way through parliament.

Everyone is welcome to come along, so please bring all your friends and family. Even if you don’t want to ask a question, it will be interesting to hear what your MP, Paul Burstow, and the speakers have to say on the gagging law.

Please RVSP in the comments section below.

We hope to see you there!
