Gagging law: Come to a meeting in Torbay

By Megan Bentall

Want to help stop the gagging law? There’s a public meeting happening in Torbay on Friday 25th October. We need to pack the meeting to prove how many people are against the gagging law. Can you come?

Here are the details:
Friday 25th October
8 pm – 9.30 pm
Grace Murrell Suite, Riviera International Conference Centre, Chestnut Avenue, Torquay, Devon TQ2 5LZ

Your MP, Adrian Sanders, is one of the MPs that we need to vote against the gagging law, if we’re going to stop it. But although lots of 38 Degrees members have been in touch with him to ask for a public meeting, he’s said he’s not able to attend. So, lets go ahead anyway, we’ve already got some fantastic speakers confirmed and it will be a great chance for us all to get together in Torbay to show our opposition to the gagging law.

MP If he realises how many people are planning to attend, it might be enough to change his mind about attending. Or maybe he’s scared of facing his voters. But either way, together we can make it a success. 38 Degrees members voted to focus on public meetings as a way of persuading MPs to make a stand against the gagging law. We know it’s a very effective tactic.

Even though Adrian can’t make the meeting – he’ll certainly hear about it! We can pack the meeting full to the brim, take loads of photos and video the whole event to deliver straight to Adrian Sanders. But to work, it needs to be big.

Everyone is welcome to come along, so please bring your friends and family.

Please RSVP in the comments section below.

Hope to see you there!
