GAGGING LAW: Come to a meeting with John Howell
By Megan Bentall
Want to help stop the gagging law? There’s a round table discussion happening in Henley on Saturday 30th November. Your MP, John Howell, has said he’s coming along. Now let’s make sure it’s a successful public debate. Can you come?
Here are the details:
Where: Pither Hall, The Christ Church Centre, 46 Reading Road, Henley-on-Thames, Oxon RG9 1AG
When: Saturday 30th November
What time: 9.30am
John Howell works directly with Andrew Lansley, the government minister in charge of the law. That means he has the power to pressure the government to make big changes. Earlier this month the government conceded a 6 week pause to the law. So now is the perfect time to ramp up the pressure for John Howell to stop supporting a law which threatens freedom of speech.
38 Degrees members voted to focus on public meetings and round table discussions as a way of persuading MPs to make a stand against the gagging law. We know it’s a very effective tactic – last month 38 Degrees members held massive meetings in lots of key constituencies. But if we want John Howell to know his voters are against this law, lots of his constituents have to show up!
Everyone is welcome to come along, so please bring your friends and family. Even if you don’t want to ask a question, it will be interesting to hear what John Howell and the speakers have to say on the gagging law.
Please RSVP in the comments section below.
Hope to see you there!
