The big six energy companies – like British Gas and Npower – are ripping us all off for billions of pounds a year. Today, their rip-off tactics made the front page of a national newspaper – and together we can do something about it.
This week Theresa May said that she was going to crack down on rip-off energy pricing and the companies making billions off it. Now it’s up to us make sure she sticks to that promise.
A huge petition demanding that Theresa May commits to cracking down on the big gas and electricity companies will let her know this is something thousands of us care about. It’ll make sure it’s not just a sound bite and could be enough to end rip-off pricing for good.
All of us need gas and electricity, to keep our homes warm and to cook our meals. But that doesn’t mean big companies should be allowed to charge huge prices on confusing deals. And as winter gets closer, no one should be forced to choose between heating or food because the bills are too high.
38 Degrees members have taken on and beaten the big energy companies before. Last year over 30,000 of us joined a collective switch to other gas and electricity companies and together we moved around £32 million out of the pockets of the UK’s biggest energy companies.
But this year we can go even further. Together with enough pressure on the government to act we could make sure that laws are passed to stop these companies ripping any of us off in the future.
