Keep prescriptions free for Over 60s – we won!

The Government has ditched their plans to raise the age threshold for free prescription changes in England from 60 to 66, which would have forced millions of elderly patients to start paying for medicine.
More than 192,000 of us who signed the petition calling on the Government to keep prescription charges free for the over 60s. And more than 64,000 of us gave the Government feedback through their public consultation. Together, we showed the Government just how disastrous their plan would be for some of the most disadvantaged people in our society.
It’s a HUGE victory and 38 Degrees supporters played a crucial in making this happen. We should all feel proud.
With so many challenges facing our NHS, it’s easy to feel powerless. But this win will make a real difference to many people struggling right now. It also shows that when we work together our actions, big and small, can be a powerful force. Together, we’re unstoppable.
The fight for our NHS continues and we hope you’ll keep fighting with us every step of the way.
