How we celebrated the NHS’s 75th birthday together

Thank you to everyone who helped make the NHS’s 75th birthday a triumph! 

More than 107,000 of us signed an online birthday card to our NHS, sending best wishes to our NHS heroes and thanking them for their dedicated services to us all. We sent copies of the card directly to some of the biggest hospitals across the country and to each of the main NHS governing bodies across the whole of the UK.

We also made some GIANT birthday cards, which we took along to a reception we held in Parliament where we asked MPs to pledge their support for the NHS at 75. Over 20 MPs took the opportunity to mark the occasion. The cards were the centrepiece of the event, which helped us highlight the occasion in local newspapers. Here are some pictures of our card in Parliament:

On the day of the NHS birthday, we broadcast our well wishes to the NHS and its staff on 26 different digital billboards, strategically located close to hospitals all over the country:

And we didn’t stop there, together, we sent cakes to our NHS heroes! Lots of cake – enough to feed over 1,600 staff in some of the UK’s leading hospitals, from Great Ormond Street in London to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff and many more. We had an outpouring of thanks from all of the hospitals that received cake – and – as the pictures below show – the beaming smiles made it all worth it.

We could only have done all these things because generous people all over the UK were willing to chip in a few quid – so thank you to again to all those who made this possible.

Now the fight for our NHS continues with full steam and we hope you’ll all continue to be there with all of us at every turn 💙
