Getting the mental health support you need.

Talking about mental health can be really challenging. Whether you are personally living with mental health issues or have a loved one that’s suffering.

38 Degrees is a people-powered campaigning community and the office team here don’t have expertise in supporting people when it comes to mental health but we want to make sure everyone has access to help when they need it.

If you feel like you need someone to talk to we’ve made a list of useful contacts:

If it’s an emergency and you need an ambulance you should always ring 999 and speak to an operator

Samaritans are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to listen to anything that is upsetting you, including intrusive thoughts and difficult thoughts of suicide and self-harm. Their national freephone number is 116 123, or you can email jo@samaritans.org.

Breathing Space is a free, confidential phoneline service for any individual who is experiencing low mood or depression, or who is unusually worried and in need of someone to talk to. Breathing Space operates Mon – Thurs between 6pm and 2am and Fri – Mon between 6pm – 6am

NHS 24 works in partnership with local NHS Boards out-of-hours services to provide patients with health advice and help when GP practices are closed.
