Pankhurst statue: Handing in the petition
By Beth Jamal
On Wednesday 12th September, 38 Degrees-er Jacquie handed her petition into the City of Westminster Council. She was joined by dozens of supporters dressed in suffragette colours and carried a box full of 178,000 signatures from 38 Degrees-ers up and down the country.
The petition is calling on the City of Westminster Council to ditch plans to move a statue of Emmeline Pankhurst from its historic home outside Parliament to a private college away from the public eye. Millions visit Parliament each year and the statue is an important part of our history for future generations to come.
