Poll – 84% of public say forests should stay in public hands
By JohnnyChatterton
Thanks to thousands of 38 Degrees members chipping in we were able to ask YouGov to do a people-powered poll on the forest sell-off.
It found that 84% believe forests should remain in public hands for future generations.
These results show how little public support the government has for their privatisation plans. The vast majority of the public want forest to remain in public ownership. Despite opposition, the government are trying to force through their plans in parliament.
Local campaigns against the sell off are growing fast. The 38 Degrees petition now has 370,000 signatures. Together we are putting pressure on the government not to sell off our forests.
Thank-you to everyone who chipped in to fund the opinion poll – it’s given the government something to think about!
