Gagging Law: Come to a meeting in Solihull
By Megan Bentall
Want to help stop the gagging law? There’s a public meeting happening in Solihull on Thursday 24th October. We need to pack the meeting to prove how many people are against the gagging law. Can you come?
Here are the details:
Thursday 24th October
7:30 pm – 9.00 pm
The Bridge, 234 Stratford Road, Shirley, Solihull, B90 3AG
Your MP, Lorely Burt, is one of the MPs that we need to vote against the gagging law, if we’re going to stop it. But although lots of 38 Degrees members have been in touch with her to ask for a public meeting, she’s said she’s not able to attend. So, lets go ahead anyway, we’ve already got some fantastic speakers confirmed and it will be a great chance for us all to get together in Solihull to show our opposition to the gagging law.
If she realises how many people are planning to attend, it might be enough to change her mind about attending. Or maybe she’s scared of facing her voters. But either way, together we can make it a success. 38 Degrees members voted to focus on public meetings as a way of persuading MPs to make a stand against the gagging law. We know it’s a very effective tactic.
Even though Lorely can’t make the meeting – she’ll certainly hear about it! We can pack the meeting full to the brim, take loads of photos and video the whole event to deliver straight to Lorely Burt. But to work, it needs to be big.
Everyone is welcome to come along, so please bring your friends and family.
Please RSVP in the comments section below.
Hope to see you there.
