I made a donation mistake! I need a refund!

We’re more than happy to refund you for any donation mistakes. We can also amend a direct debit if you have changed your mind about the amount. Just email donate@38degrees.org.uk

As the office is closed between 23 December and 4th January, the staff team will be in on the next working day of January 4th. We will be prioritising refunds, so please be patient and I can assure you you will be refunded!

Please be aware PayPal refunds may take a little longer as not all staff have the ability to make changes in PayPal.

My direct debit is an odd amount

Our main direct debit interface asks you to select a weekly donation amount, which is then taken out monthly. (There are 4.3 weeks in a month on average, so this is the amount the weekly donation is multiplied by)

The staff team outlines this in our fundraising emails and it should also be detailed on the donation page.

That said, if you would rather change the amount you can do this by emailing donate@38degrees.org.uk and our staff team can make any changes you’d like.

If you’ve already cancelled but would like to make a monthly donation, you can do so here:

I don’t donate online

Firstly I want to assure you that 38 Degrees has a robust data protection policy which you can read here:
https://home.38degrees.org.uk/privacy-policy/

We use trusted payment platforms, PayPal, SmartDebit, and Stripe. So it’s very safe to make an online donation with us.

All this said, it’s understandable if you personally do not feel comfortable donating online. You can make a donation over the phone by calling 0207 8460 093

We do accept cheques, please bear in mind that these are not logged on our computer system, but we can send you an acknowledgement if you write your email address on the back of the cheque. Cheques can take up to 4 weeks to be banked in exceptionally busy periods. You can send them to 38 Degrees First Floor, 10 Queen Street Place, London, EC4R 1BE, United Kingdom

I can’t donate

This time of year is when 38 Degrees does the majority of its fundraising. It allows us to run campaigns on issues we all care about throughout the following year. It’s understandable that this can feel a bit repetitive – apologies.

38 Degrees wouldn’t exist without fundraising, but we don’t expect everybody to donate. There are so many valuable ways to support 38 Degrees, like signing petitions and emailing your MP. You don’t need to make a donation, so please do feel free to discard these emails if you do not wish to donate.

I already have a direct debit

Thank you so much for donating!

If you’re still getting fundraisers from 38 Degrees, it could be a couple of things:

  • Your donation is linked to a different email address (e.g. a partner’s, an old email)
  • Your donation is via standing order, direct from your bank
  • The fundraising request is an automatic one after emailing your MP or perhaps in a thank you email after signing a petition

The first two we can fix by you emailing us at donate@38degrees.org.uk

The last one, I’m afraid our tech isn’t quite smart enough to know when someone signing a petition or emailing their MP is a donor. We are constantly working to improve our tech, but in the meantime please be assured your donation is greatly valued.

I donate via a different method

Thanks so much for donating! I’m sorry to say our system isn’t sophisticated enough to detect when people donate via standing order or cheque, as these methods are dealt with solely by the bank. We’re constantly working on improving our tech. But in the meantime please be assured your donation is valued!
