Defend Women’s Healthcare Across the World

Donald Trump has banned international charities from providing abortions if they receive US funding. It’ll force women all over the world to get backstreet abortions – which lead to thousands of deaths every year.
The Dutch government has responded to Trump’s attack on women’s rights by setting up an international abortion fund, but they won’t be able to plug the gap alone. The brave move will have caused politicians in the UK to sit up and take notice – and a huge petition signed by all of us could convince the UK government to follow suit.
The women’s charity International Planned Parenthood has set up a petition on the 38 Degrees website. Can you add your name now? It takes less than a minute:
Every day, 830 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. The organisations that Trump wants to take money away from don’t just provide abortions, they offer services that reduce the tragic number of deaths.
It’s easy to feel powerless watching the situation in America unfold. Trump’s already promised to bring back torture, refuse shelter to refugees, and deny climate change. But right now, we have the opportunity to fight back against Trumps-attack on the rights of women.
