38 Degrees is named after a powerful tipping point – the angle when millions of tiny snowflakes join together to form an unstoppable avalanche.
For over 15 years, 38 Degrees has brought millions of people together, across divides and political lines, to create that unstoppable force for good. Every small action – every signature, donation, and conversation with an MP – adds up to something far greater: a movement that strives to make Britain a fairer, kinder, and greener place for everyone who calls it home.
Too often, we’re told that people like us – ordinary people – can’t make a difference. But we know that’s not true. Those with deep pockets and power try to divide us, hoping it will help them force through decisions that benefit only them. They profit while our living standards fall, while our environment suffers. But together, we push back.
In these last 15 remarkable years, we’ve achieved what many said was impossible. We’ve saved entire forests from destruction, pushed for laws that crack down on tax dodgers, and forced powerful CEOs to return honours they never deserved. When we stand united, we can reshape the world.
We’ve never been needed more than we are right now. The challenges facing Britain are huge, but so is the potential of this movement. By leaving a gift in your Will, you can ensure that ordinary people continue to make extraordinary things happen. Not just for today, but for generations to come. I’m deeply touched that so many supporters have already chosen to leave this lasting legacy.
I hope this webpage helps guide you, and if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team – we’re here for you every step of the way.
Thank you,
Matthew McGregor
CEO, 38 Degrees
38 Degrees was founded.
Olympic sponsors were tax-dodging through a special loophole. After our campaign with 150,000 signatures and spoof ads, all 14 sponsors pledged to pay their fair share of tax.
Half a million people took action to stop the Government’s plans to sell off our forests. Due to pressure from 38 Degrees, local groups and others in the sector, the sell-off was cancelled.
A full-scale campaign led by 38 Degrees supporter Geraint, a Welsh grandad, pressured Walkers to launch the UK’s first crisp packet recycling scheme. With petitions, social actions, and direct action like mailing back crisp packets, we won.
Over a million people signed a viral Campaigns by You petition to cut public money from subsidising meals in Parliament after MPs voted to end free school meals. Due in part to our campaign the Government agreed to provide £170 million to feed children on free school meals that Christmas.
When the Government painted over a refugee centre mural, we teamed up with the Professional Cartoonists Organisation to create and distribute the ‘Welcome to Britain’ colouring book for refugee children – to show them compassion from the British public.
Ex-Post Office boss Paula Vennells returned her CBE after our 1.2 million-strong petition, and 38 Degrees supporters are standing with sub-postmasters in their long fight for justice.
When the Government tried to cut winter fuel payments, 38 Degrees supporters helped lead a wave of public pressure – and won.
A UK where everyone has a fair shot, no matter their background. Your legacy could help us fight to keep the NHS free for everyone, protect lifelines like universal credit, or help ordinary people save their vital local services like libraries or bus routes.
Your legacy could drive the fight for a greener, healthier UK. From ending sewage pollution once and for all to holding corporations accountable for their impact on our planet. Your gift could help open more green spaces for everyone and ensure clean air for future generations.
Your gift could help build a country where unity triumphs over division. Where we stand together to welcome refugees, fight hate, and show figures that want to drive a wedge between people that they have no place in our politics.
Just like many campaigning organisations, 38 Degrees is made up of two independent organisations: 38 Degrees Trust and 38 Degrees Ltd. They are legally separate, with different roles and responsibilities. Each plays a part in supporting the wider 38 Degrees movement for a fairer, greener, more respectful country.
38 Degrees Ltd is the not-for-profit company behind many of the bold, fast-paced campaigns you see in the news. Because it’s not a charity, it’s free to run political campaigns, put pressure on decision-makers, and respond rapidly to urgent issues – from protecting the NHS to holding polluters to account.
A gift to 38 Degrees Ltd will support this people-powered campaigning work. However, as it’s not a registered charity, gifts to 38 Degrees Ltd aren’t exempt from inheritance tax.
If you choose to leave a gift to 38 Degrees Ltd,* please include these details in your Will:
38 Degrees, company number 06642193, registered office Sedulo London Office 605, Albert House, 256-260 Old St, London EC1V 9DD

38 Degrees Trust is a separate registered charity. It funds charitable work, such as community-led projects, research, and education. The Trust has its own board of trustees and sometimes gives grants to 38 Degrees Ltd – but only for work that fits its charitable purposes.
A gift to the 38 Degrees Trust is exempt from inheritance tax and may help reduce the tax due on your estate. It’s a way to support long-term, positive change while benefiting from tax relief.
If you choose to leave a gift to the 38 Degrees Trust,* please include these details in your Will:
