CAMPAIGN WIN: Rights for renters!

Do you remember this?

Back in 2023, the 38 Degrees community came together when the Conservative Government were dragging their feet on a promise to make things better for renters. Together, we refused to let it slide, and pushed this issue so far up the agenda that it made it into Labour’s manifesto.

And guess what? Today, that pressure has paid off. The Government has brought in real protections and rights for renters that were desperately needed: a ban on no-fault evictions, no more bidding wars, the right to have a pet, and proper protections in people’s homes.

This didn’t happen by accident. It happened because thousands of people around the country took action: adding names to petitions, sharing the outrage, chipping in for stunts and tactics, and refusing to let this issue be ignored.

Together, we exposed how many MPs were making cash as landlords while leaving renters to suffer. We shone a light on MPs reportedly blocking the laws by driving ad vans through their towns, and we kept up the pressure by signing petitions like this and this, emailing our MPs, and sharing our own rental horror stories.

This is a massive moment for everyone involved in this fight. Because of so many dedicated campaigners and organisations fighting for this, today we’ve secured a huge WIN for renters across the country.
